Monday afternoon bridge

Tuesday, 05 September 2023 by Paul Gipson

We just had our first Monday afternoon bridge session and I thought I'd write a little report for everyone rather than hide it in the next Committee meeting minutes.

Nine players, with me as host, showed up, most without pre-arranged partners. The warmest day of the summer was probably not the ideal day to start as I expect the garden robbed us of some, as did walking in the Highlands.

We played five three-board rounds, at nine minutes per board, and finished at 4.25pm. We only had one four-minute warning bell and always finished the round well before it was due.

It was a very friendly and 'chatty' atmosphere, despite me playing. I think the extra time made it more relaxed than the summer Thursdays and it was good to see two players at the club for the first time since lockdown.

Hopefully we'll see more people playing in the coming weeks and we'll maintain the pleasant atmosphere.
