Following the congress the club made its usual charity donation. Tony has received the following from the recipients:
On behalf of all at Berwick Cancer Cars I would like to thank you and the members of the Bridge Club for the very generous donation of £100. It is so kind if you to think of us and we thank you for your support.
The money will go towards keeping our 6 cars running to help local people with a cancer diagnosis to reach their cancer related appointments – usually over 120 miles round trip. We are also opening our new premises at 8 Tweed Street on Monday 8 May and you and your members are welcome to come along and have a cuppa with the volunteers! We will be housing our cars there and getting away from the Asda carpark!
It is through people like yourselves that we can keep our service running for people often facing the worst time in their lives and we know how appreciated it is by all.
