The EBU Spring Foursomes is the premier weekend congress in the UK bridge calendar and last year Paul narrowly lost in the quarter-final.
This year Paul's team was seeded higher at #29 of the 52 entrants, but lost in the round of 16. However losing on Sunday evening allowed him to play in the tertiary event, the Hamilton Swiss teams, which he won.
Even though there were 12 teams still in the main event and eight in the plate, this is still one of the toughest Swiss teams of the year as all the teams are pretty good.
Paul was playing with his brother Alex, Sam Punch, Stephen Peterkin, Mike Ash and Robert Ferrari.
Paul, Alex and Mike have previously won the plate, so just the big one is needed to complete the set.
