Lindsay Individual information

Monday, 21 December 2020 by Paul Gipson

The Lindsay Individual is the club's single-session individual handicapped matchpointed pairs competition and it will be held on BBO this year at 2pm on Thursday, 31 December. The current holder is Sue Price, although she has yet to be presented with the trophy.

As it is very difficult to handle the result of an individual, we've decided that it will be run by paulg rather than the Berwick Virtual Club: this means it will be a free event but master points will not be awarded; also the handicapping will be done after the event and not by BBO. It is open to all club members.

REGISTRATION

Registration will open at noon on Thursday, 31 December: just look for paulg's tournament in 'All tournaments'. At least you do not need to coordinate registration with a partner. You must register by 1.50pm, at which point entries will be restricted to the next multiple of four to try and prevent the need for robots or substitutes.

SYSTEM

This is an individual event so I have prepared a system card based on the SBU individual system (Acol, weak no trump, three weak twos). You must use this system even if you are playing with a regular partner, in order to be fair. You are permitted to consult this system card during play as it is the system card of your opponents.

FORMAT

We will be playing sixteen one-board rounds. We decided to reduce the event to sixteen boards as one-board rounds are typically slower.
